USB Input Operation with a Computer
The MCD1100 USB-D/A Input provides the capability
to playback music from a computer, when the com-
puter is connected to the rear panel USB Digital Audio
Input Connector. The MCD1100 USB Input is compat-
ible with both PC Computers using Microsoft
®
Win-
dows
®
(XP with Service Pack 3, Vista with Service
Pack 1 and Windows 7) and the Apple
®
Macintosh
®
Computers using OS-10.6 with the latest update.
When using a PC Computer with Windows, a spe-
cial McIntosh USB Audio Software Driver needs to be
installed on the PC Computer before connecting the
MCD1100 USB Input to an USB Port on the computer.
Note: If an Apple Macintosh Computer is used with the
MCD1100, no additional driver is required.
The McIntosh USB Audio Windows Driver and
Installation and Operation Guide are available for
download from the McIntosh Web Site:

Under “Product Catorgory” select Sources and
under “Model Number” select MCD1100, then click
on “Select. When the MCD1100 Information appears,
download the “McIntosh
Audio Windows Driver
Installation and Operation
Guide” and “McIntosh USB
Audio Windows Driver V_ .
_. Follow the instructions in
the Guide and after the USB
Driver is installed, connect
the MCD1100 to the PC
Computer.
When a disc in the com-
puter is playing back, the McIntosh MCD1100 Remote
Control Push-Buttons (PLAY, PAUSE , NEXT
External Digital Inputs
The MCD1100 internal D/A (Digital to Analog) Con-
verter may be used to decode a variety Digital Audio
Signals. It will decode a two channel PCM Encoded
Digital Signal into a two channel Analog Signal.
There are connections for BNC, Coaxial, Optical,
USB and XLR Digital Inputs. They may be connected
simultaneously and the MCD1100 has electronic
switching for selection of the desired music source.
The default Digital Input Selection is playback of
a disc in the MCD1100. The Front Panel display will
indicate the Volume Level (0-100%) at the Variable
Audio Outputs. Refer to figures 37, and 38. To select
an external Digital Input press
the INPUT Push-button on
the Front Panel or press the
INTRO Push-button on the
MCD1100 Remote Control
repeatedly until the name of
the desired Input appears on
the Front Panel Information Display. Refer to figures
37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44.

Note: When the digital signal changes from PCM (CD
Playback) to DSD (SACD Playback) the LED
above the Front Panel INPUT Push-button will
flash.
